Caleigh Cross nicely lays out the benefits of beer tourism in her article for Stowe Today, “The Alchemist, a Year In, Brings Fortune to Region.”
Quoting from the article, here is Ani Petrolito, Marketing Manager of Stowe neighbor Idletyme Brewing Company: “It’s been a huge boost for us. We couldn’t be happier that they’re in town. We have a lot of people that head to the Alchemist and stand in line on the weekends and purchase their beer and come here for lunch after.”
Of course, the village of Stowe has lots of things going for it in the tourism department:
- Mount Mansfield, the highest mountain in Vermont
- Cute little 200-year-old European style village
- Stowe Mountain Resort, considered the #1 ski resort in the east for both downhill and cross country
- Trapp Family Lodge, which has its own brewery and is owned by the family that was the basis for the movie Sound of Music
But according to the article, apparently The Alchemist Brewery and its famous beer Heady Topper are now driving in a new set of tourists. Visit the brewery’s website and it advises you the parking lot (not the brewery) opens at 10:00 AM, so please don’t arrive early.
We are working now to plan evening events and pre-conference and post-conference excursions during the 2018 Beer Marketing & Tourism Conference and hope to include Stowe.
The new world of beer tourism!
