Tourism promotion agencies throughout North America – often called Destination Marketing Organizations or DMOs – are jumping on board the beer tourism freight train.
There are currently 45 registered attendees at the 2017 Beer Marketing and Tourism Conference representing 31 different agencies. Regions represented include cities (San Diego, CA; Richmond, VA, Gainesville, GA), regions (Yakima Valley, WA; Chester County, PA), states (Delaware; Oregon), and even countries (Ireland).
Smart DMOs understand craft beer is a booming industry, travelers often base their decisions on their passions, and beer tourism is a trend that is going to continue to grow. And beer tourists put rear ends in restaurant seats, heads in hotel beds, and dollars in local government and private business coffers.
If you represent a city, state, region, or country interested to know about beer tourism and how to promote your own location, here are four reasons you should consider signing up for the Beer Marketing & Tourism Conference:
- You will learn a lot about beer marketing and beer tourism, both from the sessions you attend and the attendees you meet.
- We have a special three-hour workshop on “Best Practices for Brewery Guilds and Tourism Organizations” with representatives from the North Carolina Brewers Guild, the San Diego Tourism Authority, Travel Oregon, and the New York State Brewers Association.
- We have a panel on “Creating Beer Tourism in Emerging Beer Regions” with representatives from Experience Grand Rapids (MI), Yakima Valley Tourism (WA), Visit Santa Rosa (CA), Visit Tampa Bay (FL), and Greater Augusta Regional Tourism (VA).
- If you register to attend, as a not-for-profit you can staff a table and optionally pour your local beers at no charge at the two-hour conference Expo.
